the frigging haze in singapore is causing me to have a HEADACHE... it feels like my someone is pounding my brain into pieces.. to conduct the various food tests
test for starch/iodine test add a few drops of iodine solution onto the pounded pieces of brain/the whole brain positive: iodine turns blue black negative: iodine remains yellow
test for proteins/biuret test add sodium hydroxide to the pounded brain. shake it well. add a copper(II) sulphate solution drop by drop and shake after each drop. positive: solution turns violet negative: solution remains blue
test for reducing sugars/benedict's test add equal volume of benedict's solution to the pounded brain pieces. mix well and put it into a hot water bath for 3-5mins. postive: brick-red ppt formed negative: solution remains blue
test for fats/emulsion test add ethanol to the pounded brain pieces. mix well(put in warm water bath if needed). filter. add distilled water to the filtrate positive: cloudy white emulsion seen negative: solution remains clear
